For us, a highly important aspect is good food, in a good environment.
Cornwall is surrounded by the sea but finding that perfect crab sandwich is a challenge even for locals.
Here are some of our favourites and some tips for sea food lovers on a budget.
Lewinnick
The local pub / resturant within an easy 5 minute walk. Come out of Spinnakers, turn right and walk to the headland
You can book a table on line, and we would highly reccomend sitting out on the terrace, the view is quite special, especially for the sunset.
Fern Pit Cafe
This cafe is also within a 5 minute walk, come out of Spinnakers, turn right and just before the carpark for the headland turn left and follow the (small) signs. It has great views over the Gannel and Crantock beach. From the cafe gardens you can take steps down the hillside to reach the ferry to cross the river (summer only). Crab sandwhiches are served from 11:00 and best of all, with a days notice you can order affordable cooked and cleaned (!) lobster and crab, fresh from their own boat, to eat at Spinnakers.
2 S Quay Hill, Newquay TR7 1HR, about 30-40 min walk away
Plain & simple pop up restaurant, limited seating but take away also possible, 4 dishes of mussels, 4 of pasta - we tried all 4 mussel dishes and each had a different favourite (mine was bacon & cider)
Opens at 1pm and amazingly is a BYB (Sainsbury's is a 2min walk away)
Another great place to sit and watch the sea with tasty fish & chips or curries in a cafe environment. Look out for their specials like "Fizz & Chips"

About 30 min walk away across the top or even nicer, along the beach - just watch out for high tide.
Just around the corner from Rick Stein at Fistral Beach in the surfing complex is the The Fish House, be sure to book a table if you are visiting in the holiday season.
Drinks
Newquay is well known for it's nightlife, but keeping up with the changing bars and pubs is an almost impossible task.
Visit Newquay do a good job at trying to keep up - https://www.visitnewquay.org/food-and-drink/pubs-and-bars
The easiest pubs to get to are the Lewinnick - see the top of this page, and the Fistral Beach Bar in the surf complex on the other side of Fistral Beach
